The City of Santa Barbara Parks and Recreation Department manages 1,815 acres of parkland, 61 parks and sports facilities (CONFIRM NUMBERS), and 6.2 miles of public beach for the public to enjoy. To ensure equal access, regulate misuse, and provide the best experience for our residents, the City has established various permits.
The City of Santa Barbara Parks and Recreation Department offers lost cost (WHAT IS THIS? Known term?) permits for commercial activity and multi-session classes that occur in our parks. From Country Line Dance to Yoga, we offer a selection of beautiful locations that will fit the needs of you and your students.

Fields can be rented by the hour and guarantee your team or group will have full access. Additional fees are charged for field lights and field preparation (i.e. lining fields, infield watering and dragging, bases, etc.).
Athletic Field Hours: Sunrise to ½-hour after sunset except by permit.

No Yard? No Problem! Rent a plot (or two!) in one of our Community Gardens and you'll be growing your own food in no time. Plots are 10ft by 20ft each, and you can choose your preferred plot location (depending on availability) from three Community Gardens operated by the Parks and Recreation Department.

To exhibit at the Santa Barbara Arts & Crafts Show you must be a resident of Santa Barbara County and you must create all of the work yourself.
All exhibitors need to obtain a seller’s permit (LINK - City business licensing?) and a City of Santa Barbara Arts & Crafts Show Permit, which costs $568 per year. Visit Santa Barbara Arts & Crafts Show to learn more.
Residents requesting the removal of a regulated tree must fill out an application and submit to the Parks and Recreation Department. Visit Trees and Urban Forestry to learn more.
Santa Barbara often serves as the backdrop for a multitude of film/video productions and commercial photo shoots because we have a great variety of picture perfect locations to choose from, and great weather.
Note that a photo and film/video permit is always required for any shoot, with the only exception being not-for-profit photo shoots occurring on private property, having no impact on the public.
