Free, Seasonal Pools Open for Summer
The City of Santa Barbara will open two seasonal pools for the summer. Oak Park Wading Pool will open June 17 and Ortega Park Swimming Pool will open June 22. Both pools are free for public use and have lifeguards on duty. The City’s year-round pool, Los Baños del Mar, will have adjusted hours to accommodate higher traffic during the summer.
Summer Hours
The Oak Park Wading Pool, designed for children 7 and under, will be open daily from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The facility will be closed on Thursday, July 4 for the holiday.
Ortega Park Swimming Pool, designed for children 13 and under and their caregivers, will be open Monday through Friday for both swim lessons and recreation swim. Swim lessons will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., with recreation swim available from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Recreation swim will be available on Saturdays from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The facility will be closed on Thursday, July 4 for the holiday.
Los Baños del Mar, which is open year-round, will have a shift in hours for the summer to accommodate an increase in community use. In addition to public lap swim, Los Baños del Mar will also host recreation swim hours for families during the summer every Monday through Friday from 2:15 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. The facility will be closed on Thursday, July 4 for the holiday.
Swim Lessons
Low-cost group swim lessons will be offered throughout the summer for children six months to 12 years old. Lessons are separated by age and skill level and will be provided at Los Baños del Mar and Ortega Park Pool. Residents can register for a session of eight 30-minute lessons for $50, roughly $6 per lesson. Each participant will also receive a summer swim pass good for one adult and two children to enjoy recreation swim at Los Baños del Mar for free.
