Public Focus Group to Discuss Outdoor Recreation in Santa Barbara
In partnership with the City of Santa Barbara Parks and Recreation Department, the Office of Grants and Local Services (OGALS) at California State Parks is hosting a Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (SCORP) public focus group at the MacKenzie Center located in MacKenzie Park on Tuesday, October 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
The SCORP is a statewide plan establishing priorities to address unmet needs for public outdoor recreation lands throughout California. The 2026 – 2030 plan aims to create change in communities where parks and recreation programs continue to become a solution for healthier communities. Given that youth, parents, and seniors living in the community are experts on their needs, it is vital that their voices are heard. This input is crucial to help drive the State of California’s parks and recreation plan and future funding priorities.
The public is invited to join this focus group and share their thoughts about parks and recreational opportunities in the Santa Barbara community. The focus group will provide an opportunity for the community to explain what types of park projects or programs can help address health and safety challenges in their community.
Your voice can help shape future parks!
