Adapted Programs and Inclusion Services
The Adapted Recreation Program gives people with disabilities the opportunity to enjoy leisure activities in a safe and supportive environment that fosters an enriching experience for all who participate. Our goal is for everyone to have fun, learn new skills, get fit and socialize with friends. Our team can provide recommendations for the most positive and beneficial programs based on your interests. Contact the Inclusion Coordinator for more information at (805) 564-5421.
Inclusion Support for Parks and Recreation Programs
While the Adapted Recreation Program offers programs specifically designed for individuals with disabilities, there are those who prefer to join other sports and recreation activities offered by the Parks and Recreation Department.
It is the goal of the Adapted Program's assessment team to plan for reasonable and appropriate program accommodations for a positive recreational experience. This may or may not include extra supervision provided by an inclusion support staff.
In order to allow sufficient time for consultation between staff, assessment of the individual, evaluation of activity, level of supervision required, and provision of staff, please ensure that you enroll in the program or activity a minimum of three weeks before it starts and request accommodations within the medical waiver section while registering for activities.
