San Ysidro Trail

San Ysidro Trail begins on East Mountain Road and moves up San Ysidro Canyon to its crest at East Camino Cielo. The trail is a lighter used trail in comparison with other front country trails. The trail moves through riparian habitat along the canyon portions of trail then transitions to oak woodland and chaparral near the crest. Several pools and a waterfall can be spotted along the trail and views at the top include the Channel Islands and Montecito. Visitors are likely to encounter: hikers/joggers, dogs, bikers, and poison oak. Visitors may encounter: horses, snakes, and other wildlife. Dogs are allowed on-leash; cleanup is required.
