Thousand Steps Repair Project Delayed Due To Lack of Sand

The final improvement of the Thousand Steps Repair Project has been postponed. A lack of seasonal sand has created tide pools within the exposed reef structures, making the beach hauling route impassable. Construction of a concrete apron to reduce wave energy and extend the life of the lower steps will be delayed until more sand has been naturally deposited within the beach hauling route. An update will be provided when new timing is confirmed.
