Parks and Recreation offers many programs for Older Adults in the Santa Barbara community, including free programs such as Duplicate Bridge Club, Knitting and Crochet Club, and Scrabble Club offered at the newly renovated Louise Lowry Davis Center, as well as paid fitness classes offered at the Carrillo Recreation Center.

Free Programs for Older Adults

Scrabble Club

Every Monday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Louise Lowry Davis Center.

This weekly social group is designed to connect older adults through their love of Scrabble. No matter how skilled you are at Scrabble, this group is for you! New members are always welcome, and the group is open to English and Spanish speakers.

Duplicate Bridge Club

Every Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Louise Lowry Davis Center.

This weekly social group is designed to connect older adults through their love of card playing. Whether you are a Duplicate Bridge master or looking to learn, this group is for you. New members are always welcome, and the group is open to English and Spanish speakers.

Knitting and Crochet Club

Every Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Louise Lowry Davis Center.

This weekly social group is designed to connect older adults through their passion for knitting and crocheting. New members are always welcome, and the group is open to English and Spanish speakers.

Paid Fitness Classes for Older Adults

Stretch and Tone

Every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at the Carrillo Recreation Center.

Participants move through a variety of exercises designed to improve muscular strength, range of movement, and skills required during activities for daily living.
