Skater's Point Skatepark

This program is in memory of four young men: Rypkin Murphy, Kirby Thorsell, Alec Hardy, and Avery Diamond, to promote emotional support and safety among skaters.

Alec tragically lost his life to a traumatic brain injury while skateboarding. Unfortunately, Alec was not wearing his helmet when he fell and hit his head. Thanks to the donations in these young men's names, the City is able to provide extra camp scholarships and educate camp participants about the importance of wearing a helmet.

Skate Camp scholarships are provided by the City’s General Fund and a generous $5,000 donation from the Skater's Honor Scholarship Program. Scholarships are maintained by the Police Activities League (PAL) through their Campership Alliance Program.
