Municipal Tennis and Pickleball Center

Daily permits must be purchased online when reserving court space. Annual tennis permits are valid from July 1 to June 30.

Confirm DOB and mailing address are correct
Only residents residing in the City Limits of Santa Barbara receive the resident discount

Instructions for Purchasing Annual Pass:
1. Visit http://cityofsantabarbara.perfectmind.com
2. Create your account (or Log-in). Retrieve your temporary password from your email and create a new password if needed. (Requested temporary password may take a few minutes to receive.)
3. Select MEMBERSHIP
4. Select TENNIS or PICKLEBALL ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP
5. Select ADD TO CARD
6. Insert Credit Card Information
7. Keep a hard or electronic copy of your receipt

Please allow 2-3 business days for card to be created.
Ask the monitor on your next visit for your new card.

The site of the Municipal Tennis Center complex was acquired in parcels from 1909-1913. The clubhouse and four courts were constructed as a Works Progress Administration (WPA) project at a cost of $95,000, and opened May 15, 1937. The clubhouse contained a lounge, showers, lockers and offices. The first Santa Barbara Open Tournament was held August 28, 1938.

The facility at one time was the center of Southern California tennis tournament competition and contained the first lighted courts in the area when five additional courts were added prior to World War II. The facility was remodeled in 1957 and three additional courts were constructed in the 1960's.

The tennis stadium was closed in the 1970's due to unsafe conditions. Half the stadium was demolished and the other half renovated in 1980, and new landscaping was added in 1983. Lights were installed on tennis courts 1-3 in 1999 when the old lights on courts 7-11 were removed. Cal Trans installed the sound wall in 2009 during the 101 freeway expansion.

The Municipal Tennis Center made it possible for UCSB, SBCC, Westmont and SB High School to participate in team competition until they built their own tennis facilities on their respective campuses.
