Tips and Information for Purchasing an Annual Pass:

• It is recommended to use a computer or tablet.
• To receive the accurate fee, confirm DOB and mailing address on your PerfectMind account.
• Only residents residing in the City Limits of Santa Barbara will receive the resident discount. 
• Passes are valid from the date of purchase until June 30, 2025.
• Please print a copy of your receipt or save it on your phone. Your receipt will be accepted at check-in until you collect your new annual pass card.
• You can pick up your new card from the Muni Monitor at the parking lot entrance. 
• Please allow 3-5 business days for your pass to be created. 
• If you want to purchase multiple passes for family members, please add them to your account first.

The site of the Municipal Tennis Center complex was acquired in parcels from 1909-1913. The clubhouse and four courts were constructed as a Works Progress Administration (WPA) project at a cost of $95,000, and opened May 15, 1937. The clubhouse contained a lounge, showers, lockers and offices. The first Santa Barbara Open Tournament was held August 28, 1938.

The facility at one time was the center of Southern California tennis tournament competition and contained the first lighted courts in the area when five additional courts were added prior to World War II. The facility was remodeled in 1957 and three additional courts were constructed in the 1960's.

The tennis stadium was closed in the 1970's due to unsafe conditions. Half the stadium was demolished and the other half renovated in 1980, and new landscaping was added in 1983. Lights were installed on tennis courts 1-3 in 1999 when the old lights on courts 7-11 were removed. Cal Trans installed the sound wall in 2009 during the 101 freeway expansion.

The Municipal Tennis Center made it possible for UCSB, SBCC, Westmont and SB High School to participate in team competition until they built their own tennis facilities on their respective campuses.
